Create a New Retro Text Effect in Photoshop
Faking aged, printed media has been massive since the ‘grunge’ style first became mainstream years ago. Textured work with a vintage feel is still very popular, but more recently it’s the ‘new retro’ style that’s captured the imagination. The general idea is to create a vision of the future… from the past. This effect is good for all sorts of projects, flyers, websites, posters. It works particularly well with music based projects. I’ll take you through the motions for type and, if you dig then I’ll show you how to incorporate images next time.

How to Create an Ice Text Effect with Photoshop
In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create an ice effect completely from scratch using special Photoshop Brushes. Some time ago playing with Photoshop and trying to make an ice effect I discovered that “dead trees” can simulate very well the ice’s “veins” giving a cool feeling to an image. I’m not going for realism here, but I do like the final effect for this tutorial. I used some text as reference, but this effect can be applied to any shape you want and can add some great style.

An understandable development as the third dimension introduces new elements and uncharted playgrounds into the wonderful world of typography, combining the aspects of design and communication in an unparalleled fashion. Vector/Vexel Art in Photoshop
Before we start I just want to make clear this is not true vector. Vectors are mathematical curves that can be zoomed into & not loose quality. You can make true vector in Photoshop but not the way we do in this tutorial. No matter what program or method you use to make true vector, the moment you convert it to a .jpg or .gif, it is no longer true vector, so there isn’t much point if it is just a normal graphic. Vexel is a new word for “Vector Art” so as not to confuse people!
